LOFFA FC were denied a stunning win as Mountmellick AFC B clawed they way back from being two goals to one down to claim a valuable victory in this bottom of the table Division 4A clash. The host showed their composer, experience and debt in squad to take advantage of crucial errors in the LOFFA FC defence to record a much undeserved win.
It was LOFFA FC first game since early December and this showed on the pitch, however Paul Hoolahan struck the bar from a corner. Hoolahan showed once more showing how his aerial ability can be a threat. Michael Power was once more showing his versatility and supervision at the back with David Finn was neat and industrial in midfield but it was LOFFA FC man of the match full back Joe Dooley excelled once more for the away team. Although a shuffle was required by the manager Karl Byrne as Mountmellick are a good footballing team and proved it on the field today. It took the brilliance of Anthony Lynch to rip open the Mountmellick defensive line to assist Christopher O Neill for another league goal and then help himself to his first league goal. Training will once more be in Portlaoise at the leisure centre at 8.00pm and in Portarlingtion (subject to attendance notification) at 7.00pm on Friday. Training is vital for fitness and our team gains tactical advantage and much stamina to compete. But these venues are subject to attendance.
