CCFL Coaches Club
The CCFL’s Coaches Club held its 2nd Coaching session at Portlaoise AFC’s excellent facilities in Portlaoise on Wednesday 27th February attended by a very knowledgeable group of Coaches who watched the topic “transition to defend” being expertly demonstrated by FAI coach Adrian Carberry.
The night was opened by Youths Divisional Manager Eamonn Brady who explained to those present that the Coaches Club was developed as a consequence of the roll out of the CCFL Youths strategy and its aim was to increase the standard of Coaching within the region, he noted that 2 more sessions would be held before the end of the season and that it was open to all coaches within the football family in the Midlands including the 3 local schoolboys leagues who’s coaches had also being invited to attend.
He then welcomed Adrian who gave a brief explanation of the session on the coaching board before heading out to give an excellent practical demonstration on how the session should be developed. The coaching aspect of the night ended with a lively questions and answers session.
Following a short break Eamonn introduced Geraldine Stafford, Dietician & Nutritionist who gave an excellent & enthralling presentation on the correct diet of the active Soccer Player, the talk also set out what the soccer player should eat & drink prior to and on the day of a game.
Feedback from those present was excellent with comments such as;
“All Good”, “Demonstration was all game related” “Involving the Coaches was a good idea” “excellent presentation by the Dietician as it showed us how to prepare correctly for games” “ Professional Job all round”
Eamonn closed the night by thanking Portlaoise & their players, Adrian & Geraldine for their valued contributions & finally for those Coaches who attended, he advised that details of the next session would be displayed on the website in the near future.
