LFA U17 Soccer Tournament

LFA U17 Soccer Tournament

The CCFL are delighted to announce that the Leinster Football Association (LFA) will be organising an U17 Interleague Tournament to be played in April 2014, this Competition will be run on a blitz basis over 1 or 2 days.

A squad will be selected from this Blitz to represent Leinster in a quadrangular tournament against Munster, Connacht and Ulster. Furthermore the LFA are also looking at opportunities to bring the squad to an International overseas Competition.

Youths Divisional Manager Eamonn Brady expressed his delight with the announcement of the development of this Tournament and stated that it was in keeping with the CCFL’s Youths Development strategy, where a CCFL U17 squad is selected and coached on a regular basis and apart from having the opportunity to play in the LFA blitz, they would also be brought to the Macron Cup in Galway in the Summer of 2014 and then represent the League in the 2014/15 FAI U18 Interleague Competition.

He thanked the LFA for their foresight and also the CCFL Committee who campaigned long and hard for its establishment.

He further stated that any Interested player born in 1997 or younger currently registered with the League should forward their name to him at the earliest opportunity, An initial trial will take place this Sunday in the AIT in Athlone (see separate notice); he also hoped that Club officials and Managers would encourage their Players to play at the highest level possible.
