FAI JUNIOR CUP RESULTS

FAI JUNIOR CUP RESULTS

We are now at the business end of the FAI Junior Cup and 2014 winners St. Michaels were sent crashing out of the competition by Clare side Newmarket Celtic in what was the upset of the day. All four Limerick teams, Pike, Janesboro, Carew Park and Regional made it through to the 7th Round as did last year’s finalist’s Sheriff who beat North End from Wexford the turning point of this tie was the conceding of a penalty and sending off of the North End full back 15 minutes in to the second half, Sheriff can count themselves fortunate as North End created the better chances after this incident and were very unlucky not to equalise.

Rivervalley Rgs dispatched Clones Town after going behind and Mayo lost all three representatives in the competition with Inishowen side Glengad Utd beating Castlebar Celtic, previous winners Westport were knocked out by St. Peters from Athlone and Manulla were on the wrong end of a 6-1 defeat to Salthill Devon from Galway. Kilbarrack Utd from the AUL travelled to Crumlin and won 3-1 while Pearse Celtic knocked out Roscommon side Moore Cel on penalties. Aungier Celtic /Cherry Orchard, Railway Union/Clonmel Celtic, Clonmel Town/Tramore and Ferns/Carrigaline all play next week for the final places in the 7th Round Draw and I am sure there will be more twists and turns on the Road to the Aviva for the final on Saturday the 14th of May 2016.

The 7th Round Draw will take place this Wednesday at 1pm in the Umbro Showrooms and it promises to throw up some exciting ties for a place in the Quarter Finals of the FAI Junior Cup.  The draw will be available on the Striker, Aviva and FAI website along with reaction and interviews immediately after the draw.
