Dear Club Secretary
With the cooperation of the FAI, we are delighted to invite all clubs to take part in a 1 day club blitz, as part of the Irish Sun FAI 5’s competition.
The format will be a 1 day blitz, with up to 32 teams taking part. The cost for teams to take part will be €80 (or €10 per person in an 8 man squad).
The Irish Sun FAI 5s will look after the administration of the event including; team registration (online), event organisation, arranging coordinators/referees for the day etc.
The blitz competition needs to be played on or before March 19th. Depending on the demand from clubs in your league, it might be necessary to run a second blitz which will result in increased fund raising for the league.
The key Competition details for potential teams are as follows:
Format 2.5-3 hour blitz.
- Prizes for Blitz would be trophy/medals & 8 tickets to Ireland vs Bosnia Herzegovina on May 26th .
- No pros or semi pros can play in the competition.
- Format may be 5/6 or 7 a side, depending on local facilities, with 5-a-side being the preference.
- Clubs can enter more than 1 small sided team
- Winners of blitz will proceed to play in National Finals day in Astropark Dublin (April 13th or 14th) with an overall prize of – Playing in Aviva Stadium in September 2012 + €1000 spending money + Corporate box for Ireland vs Bosnia Herzegovina!
For more details about the overall competition prizes etc, check out www.5s.ie . Clubs will play a blitz and benefit from the great prizes on offer, rather than play a league, like other recreational players nationwide. Teams that want to register can do so on the website.
